Sister's blog debut

My brilliant sister is publishing her works on a project journal blog called Art By Natalie Fletcher. Please check her out, follow her blog, and show your support for this starving-yet-still-creating artist. I am so proud of her, to say the very least.

Shine on, Sis!

Baby backpack

Singer and I are going to my parents' house in Florida for a vacation, and I figured Singer needs a carry-on for the flight. I made him a pack!

He'll need some light reading material on the plane, of course. So I've packed him Let's Dance Little Pookie. It's his fave.
He's napping as I'm blogging, and I needed someone to model the backpack. I guess the ukulele can stand in...This will be our first time to travel without John. I'm nervous as hell, but I can do it. I think I can, at least. We'll see.

Traveling on,
Jess

PS: the above picture does not mean that Singer drives us around town. I don't think he's quite ready for that. I just had to post it because he's holding the wheel like a pro :) Look at that chubby paw!!

Happy Radiohead Album Release Day!!

Radiohead's new album King of Limbs is now available for purchase online...so guess what I did first thing this morning?? And might I say, this one lives up to all my expectations.

The thing I love about Radiohead is their evolution. They change colors with each album, but still they remain true to their style which keeps them in a mega-popular status. This album is (of course) different from their last, but nonetheless beautiful. I'm looking forward to listening to it over and over again until it's ingrained in my soul like their previous albums are.

In honor of Radiohead Album Release Day, I'm publishing John and my photos that we took in Florida on our honeymoon. We kicked off the week with a Radiohead In Rainbows tour concert in Tampa, FL. We ended the week with a Radiohead In Rainbows tour concert in Houston, Tx. The set was so cool, I think we ended up with a hundred photos that look like this:

Here's my sister's Thom that she painted in a series for our wedding. I'm actually not quite sure who bought this one, and it breaks my heart a little.

This new one is a goodie. Hope you love it as much as I do.

Morning, Mr. Magpie,
Jess

All things FREE

Today, I'm doing a little counting of my blessings, and I'm realizing how very FREE things have been for us this year. Thank god, because Philadelphia is expensive. We'll take hand-outs any time.

Singer is a hand-me-down baby, and I see nothing wrong with that. It's his way of reusing and recycling. That, and his yogurt cups are made from plants. He's environmentally kind AND thrifty! Thanks to our friend Ro for the hat and shirt :)

Even Santa Claus is down with free stuff. He brought us a bunch of free books that the Free Library System of Philadelphia was getting rid of. Santa knows where it's at!

Oh, and Singer is giving FREE ukulele lessons, if anyone is interested.

Free to be you and me,
Jess

Food for thought

My kid likes food. No big surprise there considering he's obviously....ummm...well-fed. But, lately Singer has been fairly adventurous in his tastings, and I keep on pushing it as long as he's eating it and liking it.

He's munching on:
Blueberries (his fave)
Yogurt (Peach & Blueberry)
Toast
French Toast
Blueberry Pancakes
Banana Pancakes
Scrambled Eggs
Oatmeal
Mango
Pesto w/ Wheat Pasta
Quesodilla
Guacomole (still not big on plain ol' Avocado)
Re-fried Beans
Grilled Cheese w/ Tomato and Spinach
Hummus
Pita
Roasted Veggies
Tofu

Okay, basically what I'm trying to say is he's eating everything we're eating, with the exception of Thai food because of all the peanut oil. I'm considering myself pretty lucky that my kid has such an adventurous palette...however, I still have to "hide" his veggies in his fruit. I've got some serious work to do in the veggie department.

Dinner is served (in small bite-sized pieces),

When Yaya comes to town...

My dear sweet momma was in Philly this week...to see Singer. To him, she's Yaya. And I've decided that my mom can come any time!! It was so nice to have a break.

John's band played, and we went out with friends. Yaya babysat for free :)

And Yaya and I sewed (yes, I'm learning!) some jams for Singer out of a really cute dinosaur fabric. He's an 80's baby now. Here's a video to show off the jams:

Singer Nash sure loves his Yaya!
Thanks, mom. I love you.
